Responsibilities |
In addition to teaching assigned courses the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Use effective interpersonal communication skills with in interactions with students, faculty, management, colleagues from other colleges and universities, community members and other professionals in internal and external educational and practice settings
- Provide and promote a respectful and supportive environment based upon the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity
- Work effectively in a team-based work environment, including inter-professional teams
- Create a positive teaching and learning environment
- Integrate simulation strategies as part of experiential learning for both Primary Care and Advanced Care Paramedic Programs
- Participate in the implementation of assessment strategies for both Primary Care and Advanced Care Paramedic Programs using a variety of techniques
- Participate in the implementation of electronic and paper based student monitoring programs

Prepare and maintain paramedic labs as needed

Maintain current and relevant knowledge and understanding of issues, trends and medical expertise as it relates to Paramedicine (both primary care and advanced care) and Health Care in Canada

Qualifications |
-
Advanced Emergency Medical Care Attendant Certificate (AEMCA)/ Advanced Care Paramedic Certification
-
Degree in Health or Science related field/ Masters Degree in Health or Science related field (Preferred)
-
Active certification with a regional Base Hospital and actively employed as a Paramedic in Ontario
- Minimum of two years of current experience as a land / air based Paramedic in an active setting
- Education or experience related to the use of simulation in health professions education
- Demonstrated ability to maintain current and relevant knowledge as it applies to the field of paramedicine and education

Demonstrated competent written, oral and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability to work with a team

Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community
